The Proposal + Q&A
Part thriller and part romance, conceptual artist Jill Magid takes a highly original approach to investigating the legacy of Mexico's most famous architect, Luis Barragán. Swiss design company Vitra has aggressively guarded access to Barragán's considerable and influential catalogue of work since his death in 1988. According to lore, Vitra's chairman gifted the collection to his fiancé in lieu of an engagement ring. In Magid's quest to liberate the archive, she enters a love triangle and conceives a surprising proposal of her own. Shifting through truth, fiction and speculation, The Proposal is a multi-layered and thought-provoking film that explores artistic legacy and the methods by which it is written into history.
